Strategic direction

The reduction of re-offending is a high profile issue, which is being considered by many bodies responsible for the strategic planning of services for offenders. Policies have been developed by Central Government, the National Offender Management Service, the Mayor of London and the Learning and Skills Council.

The various agencies collaborate together in order to develop a joined-up approach. For example the Mayor’s office is represented on the London Resettlement Board, which aims to reduce re-offending by ex-prisoners, and also meets regularly with senior representatives of London Probation, the National Offender Management Service and the Crown Prosecution Service.

In order to ensure that LAP IAG provision is effective in achieveing our strategic aims we have conducted a series of focus groups (Summer 2008) designed to review the effectiveness of the service and consider how it can be improved. The focus groups have involved practitioners and clients in custody and the community. The findings of those focus groups will be collated and used in the annual delivery planning cycle. If you would like more information on our focus group findings please contact us.
